3-Day Heritage Tour: Tirana, Berat, Gjirokastër & Ancient Ruins

Day 1: Tirana to Berat

– Morning:Depart from Tirana early in the morning and head towards Berat. The drive is approximately 2 hours.

– Late Morning: Arrive in Berat, known as the “Town of a Thousand Windows.” Explore the Berat Castle and stroll through the old town areas of Mangalem and Gorica.

Day 2: Berat to Apollonia, Bylis, and Gjirokastra

– Morning: Depart from Berat early and drive to Apollonia, an ancient Greek city located near Fier (about 1.5 hours drive).

– Late Morning:Explore the ruins of Apollonia, including the impressive ruins of the ancient city, the monastery, and the museum.

– Early Afternoon:Head to Bylis, another ancient site about 1.5 hours from Apollonia. Explore the archaeological site, which offers stunning views of the Vjosa River.

– Late Afternoon:Continue your journey to Gjirokastra, approximately a 2-hour drive from Bylis.

– Evening: Arrive in Gjirokastra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its well-preserved Ottoman architecture. Explore the old town, visit Gjirokastra Castle, and stroll through the cobbled streets.

– Night: Stay overnight in Gjirokastra.

Day 3: Gjirokastra to Tirana

– Morning: Spend the morning further exploring Gjirokastra. Visit the Skenduli House and the Zekate House for a glimpse into the region’s architectural history.

– Late Morning:Depart for Tirana, a drive of approximately 3 hours.

– Afternoon: Arrive in Tirana and have lunch. Spend the rest of the day exploring Tirana, such as Skanderbeg Square, the Grand Park, or Blloku area for cafes and nightlife.
